    Re: Spider/Okami at UFC 88

Oh yeah, several very good ones.

Ryan Robinette and some of his supporters had made statements about him being at a different level than anyone else around here. He controled the fight against Bramlett for the first few minutes but couldn't put him away. Then you could see him (Robinette) running out of gas. Soon Bramlett had his back and then sunk a very deep choke. Probably took 20 minutes to get Robinette out of the ring. It's my opinion that the only thing wrong with him was a badly crushed ego.

Bramlett is the guy known as "Chickenhawk" who Robert Baker so totaly dominated at the BSG show a couple of months ago.

Ricky Estep and Shad Wilder both lost their belts.

Stepp and Boyd was a pretty good fight. Plus there were a couple of very big knockouts. Including one by Mike Kennedy whose opponent was huge.

    Re: Spider/Okami at UFC 88

Was the contender's for the belts simply better than the 2 champions? or were Shad and Ricky just not championship material?
I've only seen them both fight once. When they beat the other guy, it was much of a showing by them.

and Gotch.. Do you know anything about John Will, or Cam Rowe.
They are both coaches at Dominance Mixed Martial Arts in Melbourne, Australia. John is supposed to be 1 of the 12, "BJJ Dirty Dozen".

I ask because, I'm moving to Melbourne in January for Graduate school and have the option of training with 2 different gyms.

    Re: Spider/Okami at UFC 88

Ricky is very talented, but did not train and needs to realize that he can't beat everybody on pure athleticism. He still needs a lot of work but is surrounded by people who tell him that he is already an A level fighter. He was the better fighter, but was not prepared and not in condition.

Wilder not his opponent showed much skill IMO, his opponent was bigger, stronger, and in better shape. That's all it took. Brandon "Sandman" Hall contacted me for a scouting report. Says he is looking to take that title. IMO it's his whenever he can set up the fight.

I don't know anything about either of those guys, but I can find out some info for you (probably). I have a couple of internet buddies in the sport from there. I'll get back with you on that.

I would agree on both assesments.

I easily say Sandman can walk in and take that belt. He's better well rounded than both of those fighters.

    Thanks,I appreciate that.

Ricky was pretty tired id say. When i got to the fairground before 6 he was still trying to cut weight. So im sure he didnt have much energy that day

    Re: Spider/Okami at UFC 88

Sandman will be rematching Aaron Marcum who he beat in a very close fight in Pikeville. He or Marcum either are a major test for anyone in or around the 185/205 weight classes around here.

Ricky was very tired. His legs were still shaking from the weight cut. But, I'd prefer no excuses.

Ricky needs better people to train with and people around him who are not just hangers on. Ricky has as much potential as anyone I've seen in a long time. However, I'm afraid I've starting to think he will never reach his full potential.

    Re: Spider/Okami at UFC 88

Let me explain what I'm saying a bit, because I don't want it to sound like I am being disrespectful to other fighters.

It's my opinion that Brandon (Sandman) can take the Arena title not because he was born a better fighter, or is naturally a better fighter, but because of hard work, dedication, and training with very good people over an extended period of time.

He has trained long and hard with very good people (including some of my best friends). He has earned his skill set.

Can the other guys around here do the same thing? Sure they can, given time, dedication, and the access to high level training partners.

Still looking for info in the Melbourne area. Above are two links, one for Will the other for John Donehue who is a Black Belt in BJJ and also a Black Belt under Gene LeBell. I understand he is near Melbourne also. I've heard great things about him, but don't know if that's an option.

Info on the link seems to indicate that Rowe is Will's student?
