He's only had a few professional fights so far . . he has certainly been overrated by EliteXC, but I think he is a very dedicated figher and will only continue to improve. Tonight he just flat out got destroyed by someone with more experience. Petruzelli has been in MMA for almost 8 years and has had about 15 professional fights. I think Petruzelli was a hell of a lot better opponent than James Thompson, who looks menacing (especially with that horrendous ear that night), but is generally a very mediocre fighter.

Finally, now maybe I don't have to hear all the talk about Kimbo is the "80's Tyson" of our MMA age.

He was definitely overrated, but mainly because people judged him on the Youtube vids that are a lot different than from fighting an MMA pro.Too much hype that you can rarely live up to in that sport. He a monster of a man, but lacks the skills needed to be successful against a pro or a decent fighter. Though I agree with Passman in that he will improve and could do some damage in the MMA world against some good fighters. Just needs to work on his ground game of course, condtioning etc. Heavy hands can only do so much and very little against a skilled opponent that can strike and/or make you tap.

Kimbo is finished IMO, before he even got started in the sport. This is the thing...he got put down on the canvas from a well placed jab. Ohhh wait, hold up let me correct myself....half a jab from a guy 20 pounds lighter. He has no chin whatsoever, thats the first time I'd ever seen him take one on the chin and it put him down. Whatever chance Kimbo had of intimidating his opponent is gone. Anyone that is a half way decent striker has a 50/50 shot of landing a big punch. Anyone with experience that has a combo of good ground skills, and good stand up skills will beat him every time. What have we seen Kimbo go against, old slow guys that couldn't land a decent shot. That won't sale anymore, so CBS/EliteXC is going to have to put him right back in the ring with Petruzelli and find a way to spin this as a fluke, hype it as a huge rematch and hope to god Kimbo can pull it out against him next time. Let's face it.....Kimbo sales...at least before tonight. MMA on CBS is dead unless they can make that happen.

I don't know if it was a half jab or not. Did you see Kimbo in his corner after the fight and the tear coming out of his eye. Either a pretty good shot or he was crying from all the embarasment that just happened knowing he went from a headliner to a undercard in 14 seconds. LMAO
