Not in the West with how close everyone is, that's just how it is, in the East you'd have a point. And they are 4 out 4th, while 2 1/2 out of playoff contention. This game is a whole lot more important to the Spurs, than the Suns, it's not desperation...but they need it.

Denver is now out of that 2nd spot with their loss to PHX last night, Dallas is just playing amazing ball right, said from the beginning they can challenge the Lakers in the West as well. I don't know how LA is going to make it out of the West, really not just Laker hate talking, the West is back up almost to where it used to be...last year wasn't much competition, then you have to face Lebron in the Finals more than likely. Can't wait until the playoffs, think April 17th, counting down the days.

the west is always better, and it always will be hah, the east is nowhere near as deep as the west.

LAL is fine, they are the definitive favorite, and should be able to win it all. i dont see any team being able to match them come playoff time, including dallas. their starting five is jsut better than everyone else.
(and YES i know that odom doesnt start, he comes off the bench, but im not sold on bynum in the playoffs yet)

although dallas might be the 2nd best team right now, the trade was just awesome for them, remininsence of the trade that sent Gasol to LAL.
the only team that can match up with LAL are the Cavs (my pick to win it all, LeBron gets his ring this year)

and they can match los angeles off the bench with varejao (who is 2nd in the nba in +/- efficiency), hickson or west, daniel gibson, anthony parker, jamario moon, etc..
SA got another good win last night, beating the #9 hornets.
SAS is in good spot, they are 4.5 games ahead of the two teams tied at #9 in the West, hornets and rockets, and still only 3 games back of hosting a playoff series.

i think the 8 teams in the west that are 1-8 will be the 8 playoff teams. i dont know about seeding, but if i had to guess, id go:
lakers
mavericks
nuggets
jazz
suns
spurs
thunder
trailblazers

Fisher isn't a better PG than Kidd, not close and Marion/Artest are about the same...people don't realize how good he really is. Dallas matches them good and with the way they are playing, they could knock LA without a doubt, they aren't going to lose at home. Then you have Denver, they've dropped a couple, but Dallas has won like 8 in a row also. LA hasn't played the toughed schedule and they haven't done well when they've played the teams like Cleveland, Dallas, and Denver.


SA doesn't have an easy schedule to work with though, think it's 14 of the last 24 games are on the road - against the likes of LA, Den, PHX, OKC, Orlando, Cle, Dal, Bos and ATL..that's rough. SA also has the 2nd worse Con. record out of those 8, 20-17, only worse than OKC who is just 18-17, Houston and NO have better records for that matter.


PHX can finish really strong, after a hellish sched. to start, they have it easy now...only 9 of their last 20 are on the road, with those games against Chi, LAC, GS, Mil, Det, Minny and NJ...then the other 2 against OKC and Utah. With that schedule, I expect at least the 4 spot.

Some good matchups tonight.

LAL and Miami going at it at 8 on TNT.
Then the Suns and Jazz at 10:30.

Wade/Kobe is always good.
The the Suns can take the 4th spot with a win over the Jazz, but it's the 2nd of a back-to-back after putting up 127 last night.


Lakers and Magic coming up this Sunday too.
