    OK

I guess the first big test of the season is this Friday for 2 teams. P.V. and Lee. Are there any significant injuries to either of these teams that could possibly affect the outcome and if not, what does each have to execute well in their game plan to win? I picked this game because of 2 reasons, the Battle of the Boot and it promises to be a pretty close game, especially after last year.

    Re: OK

Not sure about any significant injuries on Lee's side, but from what I've been seeing and hearing, there seems to be a great deal more enthusiam with Lee this year, the players seem to like Palko and he seems to be getting a lot out of them. I liked what I heard from him on Pigskin Picks, especially what he said about Graham. They asked him about whether he planned on lining him up at qb this season and he was very quick to say not in his offense that he'll be running with pads forward, none of the juking and sprinting to the sideline deal, and he'll be giving it to him a lot. I hated hearing that the past couple of years with everyone saying with his speed they needed to him to the edge. IMO the freshman year style was the best suited. Doesn't appear there's going to be much of anything in the shotgun either he's more the pro-I style. From what some are saying the defense has looked better from the scrimmages so far, I think they'll do a lot more offensively come the season. The key will probably be if o-line comes together well and if they can keep teams honest with the passing game. I look for and hope for it to be a good one.

I liked what he said as well. Sounds like they got the right guy to do the job finally.

    Re: OK

People talk like PV's horrible and while we are not good neither is anybody else. If we played a normal schedule we would win 7 or 8 games. As it is, we'll win 5. What do we have to do to win? Not beat ourselves, the only way Lee can beat us is if we give the game away. They haven't beat us since 02 and have had a better team on at least two occassions. PV 20 Lee 7, Graham will break one but Lee will choke on the goal line like usual.

Well, now. Lee looked like a team with a lot of enthusiasm during the scrimmages and they seemed to have developed an attitude of some aggressiveness, not unlike when they last won in 02. I kinda like their chances this year, more than in years past where they seemed to be just going through the motions. Don't get me wrong, I would like to see P.V. win, but with this year, I will have to go with P.V.

In 02, it was Brad Robbins first game as the starter, Marty Gilley was hurt and so was Brandon Qualls. We went into that game with a 10th grader starting under center and two backups on the offensive line. It's no wonder that was the only game they won the entire season. I've not see Lee play but everybody I've talked to has said they Graham and nothing else. They may beat us, I wouldn't be totally shocked (seriously how many times can you have more talent and lose?) but PV should be favored by 10 points or more. It's kind of like when Appalachia plays PV, if PV scores early it's over. The kids just don't believe they can win.

    Re: OK

You may get a suprise pvfan. THIS Lee High team with this coach DOES believe that they can win. Seen more confidence and enthusiasm with this team and the coaches.

I'll believe it when I see it. FWIW, I hope you are right I'd like to see Lee's program improve.

    Re: OK

Those underclassmen from Pennington should know about winning, haha.

Lee won another one in '02 also, beat Kelly that year. Had to have been some frustrating years in the early '00s, they weren't lacking for talent then, the key years IMO for the downturn.

They should have more than just Graham unless some quit?? Most of the team returns from last year and a good bit were fairly young.
