Some of the numbers are incredible 25,26,27,28,29 hundred students, there even is a AA school with 2200 students. Most A schools have between 500-700 students how is anybody here suppose to compete with that. Thanks for the link.

Honistly when people start talking about big schools folks around here think about Lee or Richlands when they are actualy considered small schools.......What we have around here are Tiny schools

Looks like some more schools are dropping from AA in A besides Grundy and Graham. Looks like a lot of changes for next year. Central Woodstock moving from Shenandoah to the Bull Run. Just glancing over the AA schools dropping to A are Graham, Grundy, William Monroe, Stuarts Draft, Bluestone, Goochland, Nottoway, and Wilson Memorial. There may be a few more that I overlooked. There will be 8 schools with enrollments of 700+ in D2 next year 7 in Region B. Lee will be the 7th largest in the state now with 728 and Manassas Park the 8th with 727.

That school with 2200 students will not have 2200 by next season. They are losing students to a brand new school and should only have 1131 students next year.

C'mon man 1131 is still huge for AA, I thought there was something askew, not even VHSL is that dumb. (or at least I don't think so)

    Re: Future of the LPD

Actually, Eastern View opened last year and both schools have under 1200 students.

    http://www.vhsl.org/files/fb-divisions-2009-10.pdf

And 1131 isn't large for AA... it's right in the middle.

    http://www.vhsl.org/files/rr-Sept_30...ip-figures.pdf

Back in the 70's & 80's, AA was 500-999 in 3 grades, which is the same as 667--1333 using 4 grades, so it's not changed drastically over 40 years.

    Re: Future of the LPD

    ADM's in a nutshell...

the VA DoE does ADM's twice a year... Sept. 30 & March 30.
The "A" stands for Average, so there's some work that needs to be done locally before it's determined.
And it's not just for HS, but ALL schools (let's says each HS has a MS and 3 ES'ss with it).

So each county has to do ADM's for EVERY school, then the state has to compile a list of about 1500 schools, then the HS list is extracted and sent to the VHSL, which then orders them, so it takes about 6 weeks for the VHSL to release them.

The Divisions ae set using the latest possible numbers, which would be those of March 30, 2011, so it'll prob. be next June before the Divisions for next season are released.
