    Re: ACC championship

why not redshirt him this year? Having two quality backs and getting Wilson for an extra year would have been the perfect scenario i would think.

Williams has been injured at times, but he was healthy in the preseason as was Evans IIRC

    Re: ACC championship

they thought about it, but he was playing too well and was too big of an asset not to use...and it turned out to be a good decision

he's had 5 TDs running, 3 TDs receiving and returned 2 kickoffs for TDs...so he has almost 1 TD per game, which can be the difference between a win and a loss...and he was the difference against Georgia Tech, scoring the game-winning TD on a 90 yard kickoff return as well as another TD that tied the game

so without Wilson, VT lost that game and maybe another, who knows...but with him they're ACC Champs

oh no doubt how well he played, he was a very effective change of pace and an electric playmaker, but before the season I would have thought if they could keep him another year redshirting would be the best move.

    Re: ACC championship

Wilson also had the huge KO return to start the 2nd half at NCST that started the comeback there. He has over 1000 total yards this season. I was pretty upset when they decided not to redshirt him and then he didn't get hardly any touches in the BSU/JMU games and I was even MORE upset. But IMO he can be credited for at least 2 wins (GT/NCST). He's a freak plain and simple. If he and Williams are in a 2 back rotation next season they will be a nightmare.

Another reason he didn't shirt IMO is that the coaches thought they could possibly make a run this year, but that was shot to heck in 6 days. :-)
"They (Miami) told me I wasn't big enough to play running back,'' said Ryan Williams with a snicker. "And they tried to offer me as an athlete or wide receiver."

    Re: ACC championship

did he suit up in the first two games?
im not 100% sure of the rules but i thought you could still redshirt a guy two games in if he has not played any.

that could be totally wrong i dunno

the ACC will be in chaos next year, VT will again have a great shot at the BCS.

who do they open with next year in the OOC games?

    Re: ACC championship

wow, that sets up perfectly for them.

I wont say they will go 12-0, I doubt that, but 11-1 or another 10 win season is very capable if Thomas gets thru the first five games and shows he can be a leader and a solid QB

Getting Miami, Clemson, North Carolina and BC at home is huge.

@ GT is very tough, as is @ a very fastly improving UVA team but thats an easy schedule.

    No Nc State, Maryland, FSU

    Re: ACC championship

The only tough road game will be Georgia Tech. I am not sure what they have coming back, but it seems like VT struggles down there for some reason. UVA may be somewhat tough because of the rivalry. But it also seems like VT always plays down to some teams that on paper they should beat fairly easily.

VT will have 16 starters returning, 9 on offense and 7 on defense

    That will be great!
If only Tyrod had just 1 more year!!! That would very easily be a top 2 team come Jan. 2012
