I usually don't start threads like this but, anybody got any information on that bunch? Obviously, it's early in the game but by now they are either ready to finally beat Powell Valley (maybe that's it? they have no early motivation) or fire another coach before the season starts. I have heard tell the varsity team had a bunch of kids quit. Any truth?

No, if anything they are probably picking up a couple or so more late. Attitude seems good so far.

Think there's more resigning going on rather than firing of coaches too.

Glad to hear that. I think Lee is going to make some noise this year

That's the same thing I heard, they were picking up some late. I was told it was due to low numbers though. I can honestly say, I can never remember picking up people late being a good thing. It's not the trade deadline.

No low numbers issue, from what I understand the numbers were in the 50-60's range. I didn't mean to make it seem like a big deal by a couple of kids maybe deciding they want to join the team now..not that it changes anything, the main thing I meant they're not having an issue with some quitting.

Not sure how the scrimmage went tonight but so far a few reports that they did well. We'll see how things continue, won't know until the first game though. I believe they could do quite well this season.

I think this is the year they finally make the playoffs. I think it's important they get off to a good start; they have to take advantage of Graham. Opening week is big for both teams, Union plays Richlands the following week and that is pretty much a guaranteed loss.

I don't think it was mentioned on here yet but last year was the final series game for the Battle of the Boot. The new series between Lee and Union will be the "Brawl for the Bucket". A coal miner's dinner bucket will serve as the traveling trophy.
