Also, a second question if I may . Can a team break the huddle with 12 men and have one leave the field of play , then start the play without this being a penalty?
I have a question for any official who may be cruising the forum. Here's the situation. Team A has a first and goal situation with approximately 15 seconds on the clock. They run a pass play which falls incomplete, but the offensive player is called for pass intereference. The penalty is accepted by the defense. When does the clock start again? Just curious, I saw this in a football game.

On the snap for first play, and yes for the 2nd. Breaking with 12 men is a college rule, not high school. HS has a 3 second window in which the extra players must leave the field after breaking huddle.

AOA Stripes is correct, but in the first situation, if the pass had been complete, then the clock would start on the ready for play.
Apparently the gentlemen officiating knew what they were doing. I just thought the penalty aided the offense since they got another play. (they kicked a field goal with 1.6 seconds on the clock.)
Thanks fellas. I appreciate the info. You guys really do a thankless job.
John I Burton vs John S Battle. Last two plays of the first half. Battle was driving on the Burton 6 yard line (aprox.) Battle attempted to pass but the pass was incomplete. Battle was flagged for offensice pass interference. Since the clock never restarted after the flag, Battle ran on and kicked a field goal. It ended up not mattering as Burton won big. In a close game......who knows.
