Yeah, duel possession always goes to the receiver. Somehow though Central was awarded the football twice in a duel possession situation, on offense and defense.
The pictures that will be seen in the Coalfield Tuesday will tell the tale, I talked with a writer from the Coalfield after the game and got the impression that he would be writing about the poor performance of the back judge who essentially gave Central 2 TD's.
Central was flagged on a clutch catch late that would have sealed the deal for offensive pass interference that didn't happen either. Those refs could use some schooling no doubt. I also wonder why we were flagged for 117 and Eastside 10. Granted the personal fouls accounted for 45 (stupidity no doubt),but there were a slew of no-calls on blatant holds that the Spartans got away with-nobody at the HS level is going to go an entire game with no holding calls unless someone isn't doing their job (also got away with a facemask right in front of ref as well as at least 1 late hit). Plain and simple both sides have gripes because the refs did such a poor job
Funny you would bring up the offensive pass interference. You're right they flagged the Central receiver, but the rule on that is 15 yards from the previous spot and a loss of down. The officials marked off 15 yards from the end of the catch and gave Central a 1st and 10. So it really didn't hurt that bad now did it.
I sometimes wonder if some of these refs even watch football in their spare time.
Haha, that makes a lot more sense. He motioned pass interference, or it least it looked that way from where I was. Apparently Unchained saw the same thing I did, so at least I wasn't alone in thinking it was a pass interference call by the ref.
