I alway thought that a quorom could only discuss old business and not new. Probably wrong on that, but been wrong before.

Actually, it is for meetings, but officials can "suspend" them for certain things if such actions require them to. And to R/T, I knew that, just had a brain fart. Thanks.

As there were only seven SB members at the time, four does constitute a majority.

There are 8 seats, just another "end run" by the school board. The budget is going to force a change, why rush this? Somebody must have wanted this to secure the vote they needed to get exactly the pigeon they wanted.

Seems as if even the folks that voted aren't sure they are legal.

On Monday three of the board's seven members were absent from a regularly scheduled session. Chairman Ted Thompson announced that Mullins advised that with a vacancy, four members provided a quorum and Monday's meeting proceeded, in cluding a 4-0 vote to appoint Larry Greear of Coeburn ....

I don't think I would refer to Larry Greear as a "pigeon". He's a fine man, and has an outstanding career as an educator in Wise Co.
