OK--just got off the phone with Steven. First off--super nice guy. He was very concerned about the problems we've had on here and his main focus is to get this thing working as seemlessly as possible.
The first thing we did was test the banning tools live. They seemed to work as intended and should be OK. That being said, I did promise Steven that we would test the banning tools ourselves by taking the mods and matching them up with some of you to do some test-banning. That way, we're using real users, real mods, and are working in real-time. If we find any issues, we can report it to Steven/Adam for troubleshooting.
The next thing we did was discuss the downtimes we encountered recently. The biggest downtime was due to a hard drive crash on the main server. As soon as the crash occured, Steven got in touch with the technician to fix the problem--and 16 hours later, they fixed the problem, even though Steven stressed the need to have the problem addressed much more quickly. A very small part of the downtime that should help in the long term was the expansion of Hostboard to two servers.
Steven spoke about Adam's new employer, an outfit called Trinivations, who is not only going to give them more backing on the development end, but hopefully on the monetary end--which will help them implement a lot of the plans Steven and Adam have had, but never had the ways and means to get off the ground. So, that's a plus. If all goes well, Steven gave an estimate of about a month for some updated options for use on Hostboard's software.
The main thing I took from our conversation was that things should get better in the next little bit IF all goes according to Steven's plan. As many problems as we've had, I urge all of you to be patient, but if there are any problems--to let Steven know via the Help Desk as soon as we know about them. That way, they know the issues and can handle them as they come in.
