We've sent a ton of money down there, and alot has been misappropriated due, in large part, to the corrupt, inept leadership - at the local, state, and federal levels.
A while back President Bush did not even mention New Orleans in the State of The Union Address..... I do not get it we send millions of dollars to the Middle EAST TO REBUILD SOMETHING WE BLEW UP BUT CANNOT LEND A hand to people in the great oh USA.

How about just sending the National Guard to clean up and contracters to rebuild homes for people... some are living on the streets... and we wonder why the crime rate is so high down there?

It was, and still is.
Yes you are right... but it is worse now because of the poverty and destruction... people are going crazy.
Maybe that should elect a new mayor - one with a brain, a moral compass, and a sense of equity. Brother Ray just ain't got it.
At the proposed rate we will be into Iraq for 400 billion by the end of the year- and why would Bush want to mention NOLA?
Maybe because we should have a greater awerness to take care of our own first.
I agree, we should take care of New Orleans first.
Shouldn't take more than 10 or 12 JDAM's to clean it right up.
