Pretty good one yet....

Gen 6:19 "And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.
Gen 6:20 "Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you to keep them alive.

He doesn't mention lions, tigers, deer, or groundhogs either. I believe there were dinosaurs on the ark also. Maybe young ones. God asks Job about the Behemoth and Leviathon. Both were monstrous creatures that could be dinosaurs and Job apparently knew what they were. They thing about pre-flood in the Bible is that apparently no creature ate another yet.

Gen 1:29 And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.
Gen 1:30 "Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food"; and it was so.

Gen 6:21 "And you shall take for yourself of all food that is eaten, and you shall gather it to yourself; and it shall be food for you and for them."

Gen 9:2 "And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand.
Gen 9:3 "Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs.

So not until man came off the Ark did God grant permission to eat meat. Nor did the animal fear man.

It is generally believed and accepted that the "behemoth" referred is a hippo and the "leviathan" a crocodile.

Ah but they're still assumptions, nonetheless.

I'll believe that too if you will show me a hippo with a tail like a cedar.

Job 40:15 "Look now at the behemoth,[fn1] which I made along with you;
He eats grass like an ox.
Job 40:16 See now, his strength is in his hips,
And his power is in his stomach muscles.
Job 40:17 He moves his tail like a cedar;
The sinews of his thighs are tightly knit.
Job 40:18 His bones are like beams of bronze,
His ribs like bars of iron.
Job 40:19 He is the first of the ways of God;
Only He who made him can bring near His sword.
Job 40:20 Surely the mountains yield food for him,
And all the beasts of the field play there.
Job 40:21 He lies under the lotus trees,
In a covert of reeds and marsh.
Job 40:22 The lotus trees cover him with their shade;
The willows by the brook surround him.
Job 40:23 Indeed the river may rage,
Yet he is not disturbed;
He is confident, though the Jordan gushes into his mouth,
Job 40:24 Though he takes it in his eyes,
Or one pierces his nose with a snare.

Or a fire breathing Croc...

Job 41:18 "His sneezes flash forth light, And his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
Job 41:19 "Out of his mouth go burning torches; Sparks of fire leap forth.
Job 41:20 "Out of his nostrils smoke goes forth As {from} a boiling pot and {burning} rushes.
Job 41:21 "His breath kindles coals, And a flame goes forth from his mouth.
Job 41:22 "In his neck lodges strength, And dismay leaps before him.
Job 41:23 "The folds of his flesh are joined together, Firm on him and immovable.
Job 41:24 "His heart is as hard as a stone, Even as hard as a lower millstone.
Job 41:25 "When he raises himself up, the mighty fear; Because of the crashing they are bewildered.

Re: Dinosaurs

If they be dinosaurs, then why doesn't famed historians like Josephus mention such a creature walking the earth at the same time as man?

The point God was making with Job was this: "Since I made both the behemoth and you, Job, and you cannot control even this fellow creature, how dare you think of usurping My place!" ref-Ryrie.
As for the leviathan, the point is to illustrate what a fearsome creature he is. Both creatures would seem unstoppable at that point in history, while a good .458 Win mag would take care of either one of them in our day. Both illustrations are to make a point with Job, and later references to leviathan are used symbolically to further the point.

Re: Dinosaurs

So do I. But, the discussion turned into a "believe they were here during Job's day" kind of thing. The study of dinosaur fossil remains is fascinating, and the conjectural animation shows about how some of them may have lived keep me glued to my seat. I would have probably been a velociraptor. Maybe because Josephus lived even after Jesus walked the earth? Or at least was very young then? And Job lived many centuries before Josephus? Just because a historian doesn't mention it doesn't mean it isn't true and in some cases the reverse is also true.

I agree with the points that God was making with Job. But if you believe the Scripture when it says that God created the universe in 6 days then the dinosaurs had to be on earth at the same time as man. Actually if you believe the Scriptures then the rest of the universe didn't come into existence until the the 4th day of creation as the previous days were day and night by God's command that there simply be light.

And a hippo still doesn't have a tail like a cedar, a cedar twig yes
