    Quit Assuming You're Right

I am so tired of people trying to entangle religion and politics.

Its sickening, to think that people can think the thoughts of FEW should be more important than the thoughts of everyone.

Dont give me all this crap about the US being a GOD country.

    Re: Quit Assuming You're Right

Then show me a country which has never entangled it religion and government. It is inevitable that religion will be entangled with government. How do you think a people governs itself? Only by the outworking of it's beliefs. It doesn't matter if it's a small tribe, village, or country. The actions and laws are directly tied to the belief system.

But in essence you are doing exactly the same thing you are accusing christians of....assuming you are right.

Im not assuming i am right, I am saying that political policy should not ever, EVER, be affected by religious beliefs.

This isnt the 1600's, we have advanced far enough to not have you use religion as a crutch for our country.

A sincerely held set of beliefs, values and attitudes; beliefs and opinions concerning the existence, nature and worship of a Supreme Being, supernatural force or god(s).
    betadept.utep.edu/Default.aspx

A religion is a set of beliefs and practices generally held by a community, involving adherence to codified beliefs and rituals and study of ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and mystic experience. http://www.psychic-experiences.com/glossary.php

Generally a belief in a deity and practice of worship, action, and/or thought related to that deity. Loosely, any specific system of code of ethics, values, and belief.

Just a few definitions of religion from different viewpoints. So my point is that religion and politics have always been entwined, and always will be. Most folks merely equate religion with Christianity - especially in this country.

    Re: Quit Assuming You're Right

And by the way, we all assume we're right, or else we'd change our thoughts and beliefs.

The right wing still runs this country, as fundamental Christians.

Every President except JFK was a Protestant.

I would bet, i have no facts here, that all people in the House and Senate are Protestant.
