If the player was going for a block shot and hits the back board.... nothing happens..play on.
What is the rule (if there is one) about smacking the defensive player smacking the backboard on a shot? I thought it was a technical...I've seen it happen in two games this year so far.
Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play. It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfulness, disregard of all rules and sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence. In other words, it is war minus the shooting.

I know when I played basketball back in 96 that if you smaked the board you'd get T'd up. but I've been to numerous games and see guys smake the board and not get T'd up. so i guess that rule has been changed.

Are you asking about smacking a player or the backboard? A player can legally slap the backboard if he/she is making a play on the ball and the ball is not affected by the slap. (i.e. vibrate the rim or cause the net to interfere with the shot.) If the player is doing it just to call attention to himself, it is a "T".
