Historical, historically accurate, NOT pink and frilly and fits older PM girls.

Pretty much any Kirsten item I plan to get eventually, so sale Kirsten items are hard to resist.
And any Today girl outfits with lots of mix&match-able pieces or really cute shoes. Example: Not a huge fan of that new white winter outfit, but the sweater and vest are pretty and the boots are to die for!

- Tiny details labels, writing, small pictures, logos, etc etc... a great example of this would be Kit's Bookbag and Supplies... everything is usable (not that I would use it)
- Food...I plan on getting all the lunches and birthday sets
- Dishes/pottery... not such a huge fan of Molly's, but love all the others
I am a sucker for accessories mainly because I have always loved miniatures.
As for clothing, I tend to lean towards more muted colors, a mix of patterns, textures, and being able to layer pieces together. Good example would be Felicity's Town Fair outfit (mix of colors, patterns, and layering).

Actually liking it vs. just buying it because it's new.

I have to ditto JabberwockyPie. I don't feel that I "have" to buy anything unless it's just something I like quite a lot, and plan to use plenty. So I haven't bought any of the accessories (except the ones that come with the new Emily meet outfit and the ones that match the new JLY outfit - thought I plan to return them, because I don't think they're nearly worth the price), and I can't see myself buying any of the furniture in the near future.
However, I'm strongly tempted by most of Kit's stuff - it's a style that I adore, and I wish Molly's stuff were in other colors or fabrics or with slightly different detailing, because I like her items, too, but her clothes just don't quite do it for me. And the AGT stuff, it's about mixing and matching and things that I'd feel comfortable toting a doll around wearing.
When I was a girl, though, I wanted Addy more than anything, and I was always in love with every new piece that came out in the catalogue, even though I never bought any of it. Nowadays, her clothing collection is something I'd want to display rather than play with, and I don't want to buy things just to display. I guess that's why I like Kit and Molly's clothes so much - they seem easier to deal with re: toting around, with less fabric and less complicated underthings.

Historical things must stay historical. No ifs about it. Addy does not get any modern, including outfits of today.
Modern things must have a mix and match aspect. I should be able to pair it with almost anything else. Also, I don't like many frilly femmy things. Too much pink = automatic no. I like cool colors--blues, greens--and some pastels. I only like limited amounts of pink.
But none of this is gotta have it if I'm low on funds.

It all really depends. I love Emily because of her sweet little eyes. I love the new Christmas outfit because of the skirt and neck thing. I bought the Let it Snow PJ"s because of the hat and mug. There are little things about everything that makes me want it.

I usually like the details of the outfits and the accessories like the shoes or hair clips. I love the scarf that is belted around the pants of Coconut's play outfit. It would look great as a head scarf. And the shoes are too cute!

Anything labeled Fall/halloween. I also love ballet, and anything sparkly (and I love pink, too). But overall I still have to love it, or at least my daughter does-which is everything.
