We have two Addys and although we call them both Addy , the second Addy is a modern girl we dress in AGT clothes (In fact she's wearing Marisols meet outfit right now)

I have so enjoyed reading these duplicate stories! Thanks for giving all of us some advice. We don't have any duplicates yet but I can see a time when it may just have to happen. I wonder which doll is the most popular one to have a duplicate of? It seems like Samantha, Felicity and Kit have a lot of mentions above!

I recently acquired a second Josefina. I knew I absolutely couldn't have two dolls with the same name/identity, so I knew I would have to either sell the first Josefina or give her a different identity. I came to the conclusion that I could not sell her, as I am just too attached. So I changed her into a girl from India named Jasmine. I have a Magic Attic Rose doll who is renamed Leyla and is also from India, so now Jasmine is Leyla's big sister. I don't think there's anything wrong with having two of the same doll, but for me, the dolls have to have separate names and identities. I like to think of my dolls like people - there can be only one of them (at least in my household). So if I get a duplicate, one of them has to go or be transformed into someone else!

All 3 of our Kits are, well, just Kit. Kinda unimaginative but Sarah's is her own and my AG is definitely Kit. I got an ebay Kit and started calling her ebay Kit but thought that it might make her feel bad or inferior, LOL! (yes I'm nuts that way--these dolls are almost like kids to me!) I call my two Kits Kit and Kat. Kit had such a distinctive personality that I could never have another Kit, but my dad suggested Kit-Kat like the candy when I won her. It's close enough to Kit but still different.
As for your Mattel Samantha, maybe her full name could be Anna Samantha and she insists on being called by her middle name? (That's common when people are named after someone, or like Maria Josefina Montoya ) That way you could call her either one you want.
