Now, if we could remove the old wig ourselves, then send the bald doll to the hospital for a new wig to be glued on, they would save time and possible damage to the doll. Problem solved. Better yet, just sell us the wigs and we will do it ourselves. They still make money!

I think the fundamental problem, assuming they would actually sell the wigs, is one of perceived liability. Let's say I buy a wig for my doll and do a miserable job of gluing it on. I give the doll to someone and they decide to send it to AG claiming a defect in the original manufacturing, putting AG on the hook to replace the head at their expense. They need to limit their exposure and the way they do that now is to simply ignore the entire issue, offering only the service that is minimally inconvenient for them, e.g., replace the head.
