This wouldn't use your ice cream maker, but I did this with my troop when I was a girl scout leader and the girls had a lot of fun and the ice cream was delicious. It seemed to work best with ice cream with things in it, like strawberries, nuts or chocolate chips. It froze more solid.

Kick the Can Ice Cream

1 pound coffee can
3/4 cup whole milk
1 cup cream
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 pound coffee can
crushed ice
3/4 cup rock salt

Combine ingredients, except the ice and rock salt. Place in clean 1 pound coffee can and place 1lb can inside the 3 pound coffee can. Place ice and rock salt inside large can, surrounding the smaller can. Seal both cans tightly. Kick the can for 10 minutes. Stir ice cream mixture. Kick it again for 5 more minutes.

I have Addy's recipe and I've seen some in catalogs that sell ice cream makers.

Try the foodnetwork website. Think it's www.foodnetwork.com then search under ice cream recipe. I haven't had any luck with our ice cream maker & sure want to try. Good luck!

I just made vanilla ice cream in our ice cream maker. I used this recipe:

2 cups cream
2 cups 1/2 and 1/2
3/4 C. sugar
1 tsp vanilla

Whisk together, and chill. Put in ice cream maker.

Very easy!!! Tasty too! I've made it several times, it always turns out! Have fun.

Hello everyone. Sorry for posting an off-topic request, but I have had no luck searching the web and thought one of you could help.

DD's birthday is coming up and she has requested to make ice cream at home. We have a Salton ice cream maker, and it came with a little recipe booklet that had a really easy recipe for vanilla ice cream. It did not require any cooking (or scalding of milk). But I lost it . Does anyone have a recipe for ice cream that does not require any scalding of milk? We plan on making it tomorrow night as an after-dinner treat.

Thanks for the help.

Lara

Re: Ot: Homemade Ice cream recipe?

Hi all, I recently had to look for an ice maker for quite some time because I wanted to throw a Christmas party and I wanted to do everything at the highest level. I couldn't find what I was looking for for a long time, but then I was lucky enough to stumble upon this ice block maker which was perfect for me because it was inexpensive and I was able to make tons of ice for the party with it!
