On our local news tonight, they said that AGP Chicago is moving to Water Tower Place in the former Lord and Taylor spot. They said it is a much bigger store than what they have now.

Wow! Does that surprise you? Will they have pretty windows for display and a place for the red awning that seem to be on all the
AG stores? Do you think this is a good move? Water Tower Place is right across the street, but it doesn't seem that viewable from the street for some reason.

Sounds like business is good! Maybe they'll also expand the doll line, and that would be great news for us!

WOW!!! I think I've been in the L&T, just not sure which side of the WTP it was on, next to the Hancock Bldg or the water tower (or whatever is there).
Judi, I think you're right about the stores not being very visible. There is an entrance between the two anchor stores. The entrance is set back and has a relatively low ceiling. Maybe AG will be able to "bring it out" so to speak.

Water Tower place is a block away from the current AGP. They are like a vertical shopping mall-there are like 8 floors! The anchor stores are Lord and Taylor and Marshall Fields(which will be transforming to Macys in a few months ). If AG buys the Lord and Taylor store(supposedly using 3 floors) I wonder what they'll do with the rest of the floors!
My well-to-do great grandma used to live across the street from WTP(next to the Hancock building), so when I was little my mom would dress me up in my nicest clothes, we would go visit great-grandma, then walk across the street to WTP for lunch(usually at McDonalds) and some shopping.

Was anything said about when they are moving? I was kind of hoping/planning to go to AGPC this year sometime, and it would probably be easier to go when they aren't in the middle of moving.
That's cool though; the LA store looks so big and spacious, and maybe they will rebuild this one to look like it!

It looks as if AG was in talks to take over some of the L&T space. However the sale today may change that. Lord & Taylor just sold the entire chain.
Here is the link to the article.
