What is it about new dolls that draw us to them? All the new things excite us so much we're practically bouncing off the walls after seeing people's photos of new items

And so here comes my problem. I'm really starting to want #26! (I will still get Elizabeth and #23, whether I decide to get her or not.) I love her hair and her face is so sweet, and her eyes are gorgeous!!! But the thing is, I only really like character dolls, and the only reason why I am getting Pixie (#23) is because I'm writing my own story for her.

So what should I do? Should I hold off on #26 and work on my other doll's collections or should I go for it and write her her own story, too?

I bought #26.. I really didn't like her too much at first, now I think she is soo adorable.... I could not hold back... If you have the money, Id say go for it, but if not, Im sure she will be available for awhile, so you can think about it! Let us know what you decide. Good luck!

I would wait. Its like anything new, you want it because all the marketing is pushing for it and its something you have never seen before. If you still want her down the road in a few months or even a year, then maybe you could start saving up.

As for normally only getting the historicals, first off, I command you for that. I think AGOTs have a way of rapidly expanding a collection because there are so many to choose from! But you can easily give AG26 a story as well. She could be a modern girl and she could just as easily be from Addys time as well. Just an idea.

I agree, I would hold off on getting the new doll so that the novelty has worn off. I really want Elizabeth even though I'm not terribly fond of alot of her new clothes (I love her tea dress) But just to be sure that I really do want her I'm waiting. It is so easy to be swept up in the excitement and make a decision because its new and everyone is excited too.

If you do end up getting the AGoT maybe you could incorperate her into the other AGoT's story you are writing. Like Nellie and Samantha and Felicity and Elizabeth

Why don't you finish your story for your other doll and then if you still want #26 you can write her a story and get her at the same time?

Bumping just to add -

I'm thinking that if I get her, I'll either make her a musician or a writer. Which one do you think suits her better? Thanks!!!

Speaking of writing stories for your dolls...
This is what I do with AGTs.
They each have a "modern" character and story - and then
each of them is connected to some time and/or place historically
via their grandmothers or great-grandmothers or whatever.
Often they are named after these historical women and have
some item or clothes or something passed down from them.
So in a wierd way there is a HUGE historical aspect to the
modern girl.

Personally I don't get a doll unless there already is a character
and story for her. Of course this gets revised and added to
after I get the doll but at first the doll is just literally that person
calling to come home!! Sometimes its like instant recognition.
Wierd to explain. But all my dolls are vibrant personalities not just a pretty doll.

So I personally would not get 26 unless you absolutely can not
live without her. For me - I knew her right away - She is Olivia Dalyn.
She is a little shining ray of sunshine. A warm and compassionate heart
who is forever attracted to lost causes, the
miserable, unfortuneate, the needy. She is cheerful, optimistic,
and bouncy. She has a pet bird. She loves to sing and loves to
take pictures. She is the only child of a young single Mom. She doesn't know her Dad -
her Mom says she never really knew him either.
They have moved a lot but now her Mom is going to University
part-time to be a teacher. Money is REALLY tight.

I could go on but you get the idea. This did not take a lot of
figuring out. It IS who she is.
I know I am sounding strange but that's the way it is.

This long ramble is to say two things -
1. I wouldn't just get her if she is just a cute doll to you. If she
calls to your heart then that's different.
2. AGTs can have very interesting historical stories in their
backgrounds. They can be so much more than just modern girls.

EDITING to add: That although I think the new AGT 25 is a lovely
doll - she is no one to me and I won't be getting her.
