Red face

I made my first attempt at glueing a wig on a doll's head. Not an AG doll but one of my other dolls. I thought I had gone light enough with the glue and left her over night to dry. Next morning I got up and the hair was hard from glue. The glue had dripped from the top of her head all the way down. This was a really pretty wig but it's sold out and discontinued. Worst part is the wig doesn't even feel like it's secure enough on her head.

Is there anything I can do or is the wig ruined? Any one have any tips to either remove the glue or for preventing it from happening again?

I really don't know; it will depend, for one thing, on what kind of glue you used.

But the excellent Just Magic rewigging site
http://www.justmagicdolls.com/articles/rewig/rewig.htm

says Formula 9-1-1 from Twin Pines can remove glue.

It sounds like it may actually work to remove glue from a wig. If the wig has curls or something, though, the Formula 9-1-1 might take them out. I have not used that product at all, but it's the only idea I can think of.

I wish you the best of luck! If all else fails, you might be able to get a replacement wig on eBay (though it might be expensive ).

I used just regular Craft Glue. The wig was just a one dollar ebay wig from Antina's Doll Supply but they are sold out of that particular wig. It was a straight dark brown wig with the edges curled under.

If it was just craft glue, you could remove the wig and soak it in warm soapy (dish detergent) water. You might need to use a comb to help slide out the glue. Maybe even a metal flea comb with itty bitty teeth.

When I apply a wig, I use a paintbrush to apply a very thin layer of glue over the top of the head. I put on the wig, and let it dry over night. The next day, I use the paint brush to carefully apply more glue to adhere the sides and edges of the wig to the head. As long as it is a thin smooth coat, the glue should not run.HopeThisHelps.
