My goodness I'm trying to read a story to my children and can't hardly make it through it...I mean when Papa lets Kirsten have that straw hat and then Peter gets the knife too I just could hardly pull myself together! Why didn't anybody warn me how emotional this stuff is?

Yes! They are wonderful books, but some are very sad. Josefina's and Addy's are especially touching, good luck!

Addy is my favorite because of her heart wrenching stories! We did shed a few tears when we read several of the books.

We always cry when Marta dies!
There are so many touching places in all the books! I agree with you that they are very emotional.

I think there is something sad in all of the books. Like in Kirstens, something happens right in the middle of the first book. I started crying. Parts in Kaya's are sad because (I'm not going to give anything away) like in the 2nd book some of the decisions she has to make and then her choice.

We are working on the Felicity books and the Kirsten books and they are really getting to me! I don't know if I could take the Addy and Josefina stories...but I'm sure I'll try!

I find the ones where parent(s) and others have died particularly hard, since that parallels what has happened in our family.
It's sad when your daughters identify with the characters in the story because of death.

I agree, they are all very sad at times. The worst for me were Josefina and Kirsten.

The first Felicity book made me cry when she had give Penny back to Jiggy Nye, and then when she freed her.And so did Changes For Felicity, when her Grandfather dies. And when Marta died in Kirstens book, it made me very sad. Molly's stories don't exactly make me cry, but some are quite sad, like Molly's Surprise, when her Dad wasn't home for Christmas.Kaya's Escape is also quite sad.

I tend to be moved more by the happy events. I don't think there is an episode of Little House On The Prairie that hasn't made me cry or The Waltons for that matter. I like it as long as it ends well. It's the Pollyana in me I suppose!
