of the historical American Girl collection not to have a doll of her own! I know she has her scrapbook, but it would have been nice if either Mrs. McIntyre bought her a doll or she brought one from England. An English princess doll would have been perfect!

It does seem like Emily would have a beloved doll to travel with her to the United States.
I think I'll give her a mini doll. Thanks for the idea!

I agree with you - she should have her own doll. I asked CS and was told that Emily would have had to travel light (probably quite true) because of the war, but I think Molly's mother could have given her one of Molly's older sister's dolls or something.
I looked on eBay and found a miniature reproduction of Madame Alexander's Little Shaver doll. They were made during the early 40s and she is kind of a rag doll and her dress reminds me of Mary Poppins - so I thought it was perfect. I paid over $30 for it, but I've decided it's Emily's doll. I've decided it was a doll of one of the girls and it wasn't being played with (we all know how much Molly loves her nurse doll) and they decided to surprise Emily with it. Maybe even as a Christmas present.
Anyway, it works for me.

Even traveling light, most girls, especially those sent overseas to avoid the blitz had a doll or somthing like it. At least most of the pictures I've seen on the web of girls being evacuated. It does seem strange.

She doesn't have a hat or handkerchief, either!
I was commenting about the accessories for Emily and the two new JLY styles (ever since they switched to JLY, I think?) and how they are so much less.
Emily gets: necklace (dogtags), coin, princess book, ration book, cardigan
Other Historicals get: necklace, coin, hat, handkerchief, purse
Yeah. More paper items for the same amount of money. Don't think so! And I wish the cardigan had been part of her meet outfit, since she's rarely without one in either book! I feel like they put it among her accessories just to make it seem like maybe it's worth the $20.
Then, the AGT/JLY:
JLY: $5, purse, hair accessories, library card, purse charm
AGT: #3, purse, library card, hat, other small item (it used to be Grin Pins - what did it change to? didn't the Go Anywhere outfit have the little charm for the purse, too?)
So, yeah. Hat for hair doodads? Not a great exchange. I was seriously disappointed with them, and I'd only keep them if I were collecting the Meet stuff, which I'm not.

It would be nice if Emily had her own doll. Maybe she will get one in the future--at least we can hope!
Shuffar--very cute siggy picture!
CarftyCarol--your purchase of the MA Little Shaver replica for Emily is such a clever idea! Would you post a picture sometime? I bet Emily looks very cute with her special doll.

There was one on Ebay. I haven't gotten Emily yet, but she's on top of my birthday list (in Oct.) and my hubby got a big box from AG a few days ago. I'm hoping she's in there.
