I just remembered that on some forgotten thread someone asked me what YMMV means.
It stands for 'your milage may vary', and means - your opinion or experience may differ. When I read it I tend to think - duh - that' goes without saying', but I use it myuself sometimes. It's a polite way to say "I'm not trying to plow you over with my opinion - yours is valid too."

Brigitte, you amaze me, not so much with your command of English as your recoginition of obscure American references. I've noticed that a couple of times. You're a sharp cookie
YMMV(depending on how and what conditions you drive in) originated in car ads where they were selling a car for it's low gas usage. It's funny how things from ads get adopted into everyday language.

Thanks for clarifying this one Popsie - not just what the abbreviation stands for but also the meaning of the full version because you had lost me there completely. My excuse - apart from being blonde - English is not my first language.

I never knew the meaning of that and English is my first language, LOL. Thanks, Popsie.
