We're planning a trip to AGPLA in four weeks. I know that the chance of there being much left for Club star redemption by then is small, but we'll accumulate stars nonetheless. My question is, can the child only get credits, or can the parent also get credits? Since we each have our own card, I was just wondering.

We went last summer and only the child got the stars. The photo studio was closed for renovation so they just gave the girls those stars. Maybe I should have asked?
From my experience the child gets stars for showing up and doing the different things and the parent gets stars if they make a purchase.
We've had both experiences. The first time we did it, we gave the cashier the parent card and she rang it, then she said it should be the child, but we ended up getting 50 for the parent anyway. The second time, we asked and they would only give the stars to me (the child).
At AGPNY they are total misers when it comes to stars!
Unless the kid is present RIGHT THERE by the register, no stars!
Also, you only get stars for visit, cafe, theater, photo, event and hair salon. No stars for purchase, no matter how big. Yikes!
