    First I think about the outfit I want to design. Then I look at something similar and see what the shape of the pieces are. Then I find doll pattern with some similarities, and modify it to work [img]smile.gif[/img] .

    I do make patterns from scratch now and then, but usually pretty simple ones. For instance, I made a pattern for a pleated skirt on my own, and a pinafore. Nothing too tough.
