in your siggy pic, I have a story about that.
4 years ago I went to work part time at my local Viking Sewing Gallery. I sold machines, manned the register, taught classes, and mostly, got to SEW while I was at work and got paid for it! It was a really fun job and a great, creative environment and we had a super team of people.
After my first year, the original manager left, and one of my coworkers was promoted. Anyway, we had always had this "Kirsten" doll lying around. She was typically a poor mess. Apparently, a few years back, one of our regulars would make her clothes and come in every now and then and change her outfits. No one knew for sure how the doll first arrived in our store, so it was odd anyway.
One day, the new manager said to me "Laurie, wouldn't Diana like to have that doll over there". I said SURE!, but do you know she's an American Girl doll and worth some money?
"no, I don't care, go ahead and take her home to Diana..."
So, I DID! Kirsten was our first 18" doll, and about $30 later I was ordering her meet oufit and original boots. So our "free" doll was already costing me money! Sort of like getting a free pet!
I hope you like your Viking, I have a Designer 1 from my days of working there, and I love that machine!

LOL; what a hilarious story! The mystery Kirsten...
(And yeah, when I first came to HB I was going to sell my Kirsten and have some money! Now she's costing me money almost every month. ;P )
Alas, the Viking is my friend's, but I'll tell her you said it was a great machine! (I have a Singer because that's what my mom has, plus, I thought my friend's Viking felt too "placticky." Never mind that all new machines, including my Singer, are all plastic. )

I am planing to trade my Baby Lock New Ellageo for Husqvarna Viking Designer SE.
I am happy with Baby Lock machines but my DH thinks that I have to try Husqvarna Viking Designer SE.

I am currently using a Janome Halloween Christmas. I call it that because the model is a 3125. It's the first new machine I've had in a while.
