I have a first edition Addy that is beautiful, and I love her so much, but I've seen Mattel Addys and they are just as lovley. Personaly, I love getting a new doll from AG, and even though there are lots of great deals to be had on ebay, I just love opening a never played with doll.

I've never seen an early edition or PM one, but let me tell you, the Mattels are SOOO gorgeous! I can't get enough of my Addy (And I just got her June 4 [img]biggrin.gif[/img] )
My Addy appears to always be happy. I love it. [img]smile.gif[/img]
The one thing about the Mattel ones is that they have dull facial coloring, minus the lips which have a small rose tint, but other than that they do not have the vibrant cheek color that the other dolls have.

I heard that Mattel Addies havea more chocolate creamy skintone and less coloring and premattel Addies have pink cheeks and more coloring.

I've seen the mattel and PM side by side and the coloring is a bit different. I prefer the PM coloring, it's a bit rosier, but I don't think you would notice if you didn't see them side by side. I also love the soft chocolate eyelashes that my PM has, but overall if I were you, I would pick a new doll. The differences arn't as pronounced as some of the other dolls, and that way there is no mystery as to what condition she actually is in. She is a beauty either way!

I have 2 Addy's:
Addy, in the Cape Island Dress was from when she first came out. Adeleen, the one in the Striped Dress, is from early 96'. Their is a differnce between them. Addy is more chocolate with a fuller face, while Adeleen is a little bit naarrower faced and her skin has a slight caramel tone to it. Addy's eyes are also a deeper brown. here's the pictures, sorry that 2 are turned wrong:
