Red face

I just love this outfit. I ordered it from AG and put it on my Jess doll. Well, the velcro boots snagged the tights right away. I called AG and asked if I could purchase a replacement pair of tights. They do not have a replacement pair yet. I explained that I am an adult collector and I was careful.(obviously not careful enough) The lady told me that the tights were quite fragile. Yikes!!! So, they are sending me a new outfit for no charge.(2 thumbs up for AG customer service) I do think the outfit is adorable, however I am worried that this will happen again. How do I prevent the velcro on the boots from snagging the tights? Any tips from you wonderful collectors? Thanks!

I don't have any advice for you, but wanted to just say, Velcro %^!^$#@ (edited) I myself being an adult have snagged things many times including the doll hair. I wish they would quit using it all together and replace with snaps, zippers or buttons ....anything but Velcro! Hope you get a good suggestion

Go to a craft store and buy some velcro. When you are taking on/off an outfit, attach the store-bought velcro to the outfit velcro. That way the velcro is "in use," so to speak, and will be much less likely to snag on anything.

    HTH!

I had the exact same problem too after trying them on once! Yes, they are very delicate but I was very careful being an adult collector myself. Maybe I'll give them a call too.

I haven't even used velcro near them, but the socks that come with Kit's School Outfit have already started snagging and unravelling around the top.

If I remember correctly, they're knit similarly to the tights. It's frustrating, because the socks were so cute until the string fuzzes started showing up everywhere.

The suggestion about the velcro is a good one, I think. Also, if you're skilled at it, you might try removing the velcro altogether and replacing it with a small snap. I'm planning to do that with all my doll clothes as soon as I finish everything else on my to do list. (which is really long)

Oh boy, the problems I've had with Velcro. I consider myself to be very careful with my AG things, and yet I still get snags on stuff. If it's bad for me, an adult collector, then I certainly don't know how kids manage. However, though, AG offers flat velcro on some of their outfits, which aren't as snaggy.

Anyway, a big thumbs up to AG's customer service. It was really nice of them to offer to send you a new outfit.

Thanks for the velcro tip. I do wish AG would use snaps, buttons, or something else. This is not the first time I snagged something. It is the 1st time that I called AG customer service. I am not usually one to call and complain, but I had just put it on the doll so carefully and the tights were ruined. As I stated, I was willing to pay for a replacement pair of tights. I am a very loyal customer.(my husband would tell you I am too loyal Anyways, I was very impressed with how AG delt with my troubles. I do believe it is imperative to have good customer service. I don't post much on this board, but I do read here all of the time. You girls are wonderful and provide me with so much knowlege. Thanks!

I can't really take credit for the velcro idea. Someone else here had advised it a while ago. It's a neat little trick though! The resourcefulness of the people on this board is amazing.

    Thanks for the velcro tip!

Keri, reading your post about Kit's socks snagging really rang true for me! I think our socks started to unravel about the third time I put them on Kit. I actually ordered another pair as a replacement part the other day. I think I may just have to give up on the socks remaining decent--they are quite fragile. Unfortunately, this has proven true for the Tree House and the Scooter outfits socks too!

Maybe good socks are just hard to make?

Thanks for the velcro tip, I will have to try that.
It drives me nuts when I get their hair or socks caught in the velcro when I am changing the outfit.
