I was surfing the 'net a while ago and forgot that I found this picture of a magazine from the 40sor 50s(?) that was called American Girl. I thought that was neat because many years later Pleasant Company came out with American Girl magazine.

That's so cool! I wonder if maybe that's where Pleasant got the idea for the name? Probably not, but it's nifty to think about.

Cool! It looks like the people on the catalogue are wearing some kind of Girl Scout uniform.

As a GS leader, I have seen some of those covers before. I don't know if that mag was produced solely for Girl Scouts, but it was certainly very involved with the organization.

My mother read them. It's been around since the 1920s, I believe, and continued as we see it there into at least 1980... so it seems maybe American Girl magazine now took it over?

Someone at Girl Scouts was talking about that! They were confused, and thought they were the same magazine, lol. I think it used to be the GS magazine, like Boy's Life is for boys... now the old American Girl Magazine is related to Girl's Life.

Hey, some of us read those old magazines! I remember getting piles of back issues and reading them in my closet with a flashlight, LOL. You'd have thought they were contraband! They definitely had a GS connection. I remember being confused by the current AG issue, wondering if it was the same magazine from my youth.
