I just found the auction on ebay. The photo is of a mini Samantha doll, but its very hard to tell, especially for someone who doesn't collect American Girl dolls.

Also, it says it is a "sought after collector's item" and only once, in the middle of a large paragraph, does it say "6 1/2 inch doll." For someone who doesn't know American Girl very well, they might think 6 1/2 is a full size doll.
