Time bring up the great argument of Toy Collecting.

Do you open your figures, and why?
Do you keep your figures mint in their packaging, and again why?
Or do you swing both ways?

Me, a once great defender of opening figures is no split on this one. Over the last few years I?ve founded myself buying 2 of whatever figure I like, open one, and display the other still sealed on the wall.
Though recently the buying of 2 of each figure has moved back to one, however the few exciting articulated figures I still open, but most of my treasured collection is now MOC hanging on my walls.

The above is also probably why I hate dynamic fixed posed figures, because most look lame kept inside blisters.

So where do you sit on this one?

With McF's stuff I do both-

I started with Spawn S-1 and thought it would be a fun thing to collect a companies entire product run. Truthfully, I never thought it would last so long! It's fairly easy to do because I get all my first (moc) sets from my local comic shop-first full set outta the box is mine-then I hunt for a set to open, usually just the Spawn series with a few others thrown in.
I don't get any of the sports stuff.

So with McF's stuff it's MOC first with doubles of some to open.

98% of all the other stuff is open unless it's really rare or really old.

Most of my Disney stuff is moc/mib, though just because it looks better (to me) that way.

There's also a bunch of stuff-mostly Moore's stuff & Full Moon stuff-that's still carded for no particular reason...........

98% opener, 2% swinger.

I have no MOC figures right now, but I have kept a few in the past. I think the longest I've kept any figure MOC is 3 months... after that, the urge to open them overtook me.

Both. Some lines I buy doubles of. Some I buy singles and keep MOC, and some I buy singles and open.

Cool

I'm an opener... stuff ain't no fun in havin' if ya can't touch it... like havin' a couch sealed in plastic (of course that's okay if ya got hand-cuffs and corn oil).

Opener! Well, except rare or valuable figs.

If you don't open them, how can you find their secrets? (I'll have a post soon explaining this)

I mostly open. I keep some carded, but usually I'll get a duplicate to open.
