I agree with Baimun 100%. But if I had to pick one it would be Capullo. He's a traditional comic artist, is so identified with the character and really made it his own.

Cool

To pick one? Capullo love it, simple as that, it's the shiz-nit

To pick two? Capullo and Ashley Wood, he defined what I think of Spawn as Spawn for this day and age, and Capullo's the main, original(well, after Todd, I mean) definitive Spawn

To Pick Three? Capullo, Wood, and Nat Jones!

Well, to ME... McF is the definitive Spawn artist, since he created it all... and he's what got me into Spawn in the first place. When he took over for Amazing Spider-Man in #298, I was in love with his art... so I followed him all around into Image when it all began. That's how I turned into a Spawn Follower. Capullo did an excellent job taking over... so he would be my close second.

I agree with Pairadocs ... Todd created it, Todd is THE Spawn artist. Second choice, of course, Greg. That said the Simony book is really something special, ain't it ?

As I think about it, I still have to go with Todd and Greg as far as standard comic book fare.
Both are superb artists, and I always felt that Greg Capullo took what Todd did and capitolized
on itmaking the work even more intense and detailed.
However when I first saw Ash Wood's work I was just blown away by his dark, and uniquely distorted style, turning our Hellspawn into the stuff that good nightmares are made of. So to me,
Wood really captured the essence or 'spirit' of the character.
I think Aleski almost combines all of the above styles, and mixes them very well into the pot.
'Simony' was a visual delight, and I look forward to more.
So, I guess I have to say "All of the above"
Each has brought something special to 'Spawn'
(A given regarding Todd, but I'm talking artistic style)
Though I enjoyed Angel Medina's work on the Kiss 'Psycho Circus' comic and even some of the 'Sam & Twitch' issues he did, I have to say that after giving him a long period of time, though he's really hit the mark on occasion..
(I was very impressed with i.126) and I still read Spawn, I just feel that he and 'Spawn' are not a great fit, sad to say.

I remember when Todd said he didn't want Spawn to be a typical action hero comic book, and he didn't want it to be a colorful book. Which is why I hate Medina on Spawn, he's not suited for the book at all. With him on, it's a typical colorful action hero comic, hell even Supes is darker than Spawn is now.
That's also why I chose Wood, as stated before, because he did what Todd wanted to to in the beginning, turned him into an urban boogey man. I love you Bungle.

Well, I asked Jon Goff personally why Todd likes Medina so much and he said that one of the main reasons is because he's always on time and respect all the deadlines.I believe this is very important for a professional illustrator, and even if Todd himself recognizes Angel could do better, he won't get rid of him simply because right now he needs somebody like him to rely upon.

I spoke with Nat and he said J and him would be up to handling the book.
