I actually find the Britney Spears one quite disturbing. When you listen to it forwards, it's kinda warbly... and I always wrote it off as a bad electronic harmonizer/pitch shifter (like what's used on Avril Levigne's voice and Ashley Simpson's voice on the radio).

I remember when Britney's first photoshoot in Rolling Stone caused so much controversy because it was done in a very pedophile-like way.

I wouldn't put it past the evil record companies to try something as silly as backwards masking to whore out their teeny-bop product.

The Eminem one is actually pretty funny.

I would guess that working with a DJ spinning sounds forwards and backwards is either how he came up with "My name is Slim Shady" or he went by SS and spun it backwards and heard "Eminem" and liked it.
