I buy less and less figures. When I buy some it's only the fig that I really want. Last set I bought was the Street Fighter round2, but I don't see myself doing that with the other waves coming out.

As for my display habit, I try to stay only in one "display" room and not spill all over the house. So now my display room is pretty crowded (for my taste) so I guess that's one reason I'm slowing down my collecting habit.

Cool

I used to buy sets but McF's policy of variants and short-packing frustrated the hell out of me and I gave up.

Now I only purchase movie related figs... and just the key characters because I still know it's impossible to get an entire line-up (aka Terminator 2, Matrix 2).

That being said... my movie figs tend to flow along the shelves in a sort of loose genre/actor/director based line-up.

When I first started collecting, I tended to buy whatever happened to catch my fancy at the time.

I was also dating someone who had the habit of not only telling me what figures I should not get, but also bought me figures he thought I should own. Which led to me missing out on some cool figures that later became impossible to find, and being stuck with a bunch of crappy ones I did not want.

I eventually sold off a lot of figures and became much more selective. I only own one complete series (dragons). I don't buy nearly as many figures as I used to..which is good, because I also collect fairies (shut up) and some other odds and ends.

I display figures wherever I have room to do so, pretty much. I put up a few more shelves recently so I could spread them out a bit. I only have the viking age and dragons lines grouped by series..others I just arrange by whatever looks good together.

I'm not a completist exactly... But if i want 5 out of 6 figures from a series, i'll buy the 6th one just to have the complete set... especially if i can save money by getting a complete set vs buying them individually.

I do stick with a theme for all my shelves except one. The "themeless" shelf. It's a shelf for figures who've lost their themed shelf. Kind of a homeless shelter for those figures who were rearranged out of a home or just didn't fit in anywhere else. They are the lost ones. The unwanted. The outcasts. They have no past and no future. They live for the moment.

A band of drifters, they roam from town to town helping the helpless, fighting for the weak, and speaking for those without a voice.

Their journey is a neverending one, but it's ok cuz they've got a supercool conversion van with side-windows in the back shaped like lightning bolts! They fear no one, except the fbi, who is trying to put them away for a crime they didn't commit! Oh, and one of them is a chick, but she's a sexy feminist chick who has no problem being pushed around by a guy if she's horny.

And one is a kid who has a cocky attitude and talks like an adult. It's kinda cute and other kids can relate, so it helps them bridge the demographics gap. Another one is the muscle guy, then they got a techie geek guy, a crazy guy, a BS guy and their leader who is kinda gruff and world weary, but always has a plan for stuff.

And there are lots of guns but no one ever gets hurt. And, and some of them may have superpowers.

It's kind of a cross between the Hulk, Punky Brewster, Different Strokes, the A-team, The Greatest American Hero, and Riptide with hot chicks. Oh, and a bit of Simon and Simon.

So really, my toy habits haven't changed much except i'm buying more Mezco stuff than McF stuff lately...

yeah from about s25 to s26, I was a completist

I have three "main" glass shelves, that I tried to theme, the top one's a Hellboy one (plus Homer Nuclear Power Plant playset) which never gets dusted because it's high up and Im lazy, so if I take a figure down, I dust it, and dont touch the shelf
The shelf below it's basically clutteredd now, it's s25 crammed into one half of it, anda Little matrix and Preds collecting dust on the other side, covered in the front by the Manga Robots

Then I have my clean, nicely organized and displayed, series 26 set, on a shelf to it's own.

and then I just have two bookcase-type shelving units across from each other that I clutter with whatever I get, and regret buying

...I hate collecting

seriously, I love figures and stuff, but I hate buying 'em, I think after a few figures this year, I'll really slow down, from lack of room, and lack of selling much of it, and not making up my mind on whether to start MOC-ing stuff, or what the hell to do

for the most part I'm still a completionist when it comes to the lines. I still want all of the lines from 1-28,29,30 .....etc.

the ones I not always intereste in is some of the music or the soldiers and stuff like that that isnt in the main line. but TS, Conan and the cool ones I usually end up with most of them

I've always been pretty selective too (although I often buy all but one or two figs from a series). Only complete sets I have are Tortured Souls & Infernal Parade. But still try to categorize my sets as much as I can.

I kind of feel like my collection is complete. I have most of my favorite move characters, plenty of Spawn figs, etc. We're about to buy a new house and I have a grand child on the way so the priorities are changing a bit - my collecting is probably going to suffer this year. Then again, there's not a lot coming up I'm all that interested in.
