My sister has the same problem as you, Mega. Great job, good money, is too stressed and stripped for time to enjoy it. She's always working, and on her days off she's always getting calls from co-workers wanting to know how to fix this problem or that problem with the servers. clients scream at her over issues that she had nothing to do with. One guy was so horrible to her that her boss called him and canceled his account with them.

I'd like to be making the kind of money she does, but it doesn't seem worth it because of all the shit she puts up with. every time I see her, she's dead on her feet.

The more you earn the more you spend and then the more you own. And then you become Cory and I, selling all of this crap and getting the hell outta here!

My mom and I never had any money when I was growing up, but that never stopped us from having a wonderful life! I don't think the job matters at all MM4. Your kids will love you more for the cheap picnic you made and spent the afternoon with them, than the college fund that you started. No one wants to be pressured into doing anything.

Maybe you should learn from your kids, and just stop worrying so much about tomorrow.

Street Worm.... That's funny, and true.

Most wealthy people I know are miserable pricks.

So I say again, money isn't everything in this world.

My job started out with enough to get by nicely, and ofer the last year has turned into what it is now. I don't work the hours I do for the money, although I don't complain when they pay me for the extra hours I work, I do it for pride in my job. I long for it to get back to enjoyable with enough time after the job to have a life. Ahh - memories

I am working for basically 3 positions as the other 2 can't be filled for lack of finding people that can do the job. Things would really slow down for me if I could find one other person to help.. so if anyone can program VB, VBScript, javascript, C++, PERL, and WinRunner TSL as well as able to configure and maintain servers and databases - give me a call! I got a job for you!

Cool

After being in the graphics industry for 13 years I've finally found a job that I like. I've certainly gained a better salary but that's only because of my skill level and the time I've put in. I could make more money at another company but I like what I'm doing right now.
We are not rich. We struggle with money management like a lot of people but we are getting by and happy. Sure it would be nice to have a bigger house and a newer car. And yeah, I'd love to be able to buy all the toys and shit I want at the drop of a hat without consequences.
But you know what? To make more money I'd have to work longer hours and basically be a slave to my boss. None of that is condusive to being able to spend time with my family. I want to be home for dinner every night. I want my weekends off. Time is more valuable than money to me.

Also, it took almost 10 years for me to recover (financiall and personally) from the wrong career decision because I didn't go with my passion... my father was a banker and to him money was everything so he pushed me in the direction of financial gain. If I had done what I wanted to do in the first place I'd be a lot further ahead.

Honestly, support your kids in their choice of career. Ignore money. Arm them with knowledge and confidence and they will thrive at whatever they do.
