All I can think of is that they have a buttload of these sitting in a warehouse somewhre, and need to dump them.

I remember these things sitting around a LONG time, and clearancing for like a buck each. Only harder one to find was the mummy.

And I LOVE how they call these the uber popular FIRST McFarlane Monsters series... Um, Hey Todd.. remember the GREAT small playest ones ya made a long time ago??

I guess this year is the year of the rehash.. first the Interlink guys, and now these.

For me, and in my opinion, this has been the most anti-climactic and diappointing McF year since I first started collecting with a passion.

This "new direction" the company has been taken in with the animation figures and all... none of them have interested me in the least bit.

So it's no wonder I'm starting to go the way of some other people here and cease buying toys almost altogether (with maybe the exception of 1 or two individual figures).

And it doesn't help that they nearest toy supply center (the former Sam Goody 40 minutes away) just closed down.

It's sad and disconcerting that I've almost stopped collecting, but the pros are that I'll have more space and more cash to spend on things that you could say I enjoy more... like DVDs, knicknacks, and cool other miscellaneous shit.

Don't get me wrong, there'll ALWAYS be the one shelf with my favorite figs on it.

There'll just hardly be any new additions, if ever.

    <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Actually, they are the first "McFarlane's Monsters" series.

And I'd bet the farm that these aren't left over production pieces. They would have been remade for this time around. Not like they have people sitting down opening up old toys and putting them in a new package. Not to mention McF is the last company in the world who would resolicit something that didn't sell well the first time around.

    It's also a Spencer's exclusive.

    Which means at least $39.99.

I remember Chet or Steve posting images of cases upon cases stacked the the ceiling of figures that didn't sell, and these were BIG cases.

And I can remember Chet still selling the hotwheels spawn car about 4 YEARS after it was released, because they still had a huge amount of them.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Hey, I remember those pics. It was virtually boxes upon pallets upon boxes upon pallets of stuff.

As far as what TMP is releasing I'm picking up a good portion of their product. My monsters fix is getting taken care elsewhere. I was never a sole TMP collector.

I heard many moons ago that Todd kept 75 pieces of each toy he produced for his own personal collection. that's a lot of meatballs!
