...gotta do this, as I need to recommend a couple of bands to the hard-rockers out there.
I've been listening to Mastodon and Soil quite bit lately myself, both of whom I urge you flakes to check out. Mastodon is very heavy, thrash-ish metal with intelligent lyrics and one of the most interesing bass sounds I have heard in a long time. Very bottom-heavy. They have been compared to Metallica an awful lot, but I don't see it...Metallica was never quite this hardcore, even in the old days.
Soil is more standard metal, I suppose...a bit harder than this "nu-metal" crap they play on the radio, but still not hardcore. I mostly like the fact that they are not afraid to write a good hook into their songs, which is strange for a metal band. Also, great lyrics.
Last but not least, been doing the death metal thing with Old Man's Child and Emporer. If anybody out there is into that that, these are both great bands...

I'm afraid to say as I might get blasted for not listening to hard enough music. I am however waiting for the new Nickleback and new Disturbed cds to be released

Been listenin to Auf der Maur's debut album for 14 months now, I don't remember ever buying an album that stayed in my ''top 5 albums I frequently listen too'' that long.
Been listening to The Peels and Iron Maiden's Dance of Death too and B?luga.

I am not so much into Staind, not that there is anything wrong with 'wm, they just don't blow my skirt up.
Peeks, I am going to check out Haunted one fo these days...just haven't quite gotten there yet.
Porthos, I have that album, and its good, but not really a style that I listen to regularly. I like something a bit more hardcore, especially when I am driving, and the only time I seem to have to listen to anything these days is when I am driving.

This beetle driving bitch has been listening to Michael Penn's latest, just came out this month. And it kicks much ass.
