News for you LOTR collectors

Some good, some bad.

First off I'll start off with the good: Looks like a date has been set for the Balrog:

a release date of early (March/April) 2006 for the highly anticipated 20" Lord of the Rings Balrog figure. The figure will stay firm at the $90-100.00 price point and feature a ?light-up? action.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">And the bad for those that collect the ToyBiz figures -

....Toy Biz rep let loose a bomb we most certainly were surprised by-- Toy Biz isn't renewing the Lord of the Rings license for 2006. What's out now is basically it, a few SKUs are going to ship through the end of the year and that'll be that. So, that's all folks! We're presently unsure of the status of the other licensees, but we're told more Mini-Mates are still coming, and the future of the less-than-amazingly-successful Armies of Middle-Earth line is a mystery to us at press time. But Toy Biz? Not happening. (Which is a shame as a rerelease of the Fell Beast was planned for 2006.) So if you have a preorder out on something somewhere, you might want to watch out for cancellations.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well, that is an additional line that is going to free up the wallet a little more. The Balrog is one I hope to have gotten the preorder in for early enough.

Read that on the white board - damn shame. I was into them big time, dropped them for a while, and was just starting to get back into them. I can't see the license staying in limbo for long though. Maybe whoever picks it up will be able to make an Aragorn that looks like Viggo. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

Yeah - the only figure outstanding I would like to get is the Orc Lt that is in the ROTK wave. I haven't seen it on the pegs yet, so not sure if it has been released or not. If I could see the Troll 3-pack that is supposed to be out there I'd grab it to just get another Roto Attack Troll.

After that, the line was going to be a stop for us anyway. Which is good as the money can initally go to the Balrog, then freed up completely
