Exclamation

I've got a cat which I've had now for 3 years. Spaded and female.

Now one of my students is looking to donate a female kitty to me.

Will this cause problems to my current cat? How about should I introduce them?

even if the cats never get along with each other... it shouldn't change the way they act towards you. we just got our 4th cat... but not intentionally. we always just dive right in and put them in each others faces

There's lots of different options on "what's best"

    </font><ul type="square">[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">shove them together</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">let them introduce themselves (they'll decide the pecking order)</font>[*]<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">cover both in baby powder to "confuse" their sense of smell/territorial behaviors.</font>
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Just put them together and let them work things out themselves - they'll be fine.

They only way I'd "worry" is if they were both males and not fixed.

Separate litter boxes may be a good idea.

I have read that you put the kitten in a room with the door closed, like your bedroom, and then let the cats get used to eachother's smells. This way you won't have the older cat freaking out and trying to eat the little guy. Once the older cat seems to be alright with the smell, then you can introduce them under supervision. Andy is right, seperate litter boxes is probably a good idea.

    Kitties are cute.

    Cool

It seriously depends on the dominant cat's personality... it may not have a problem with a kitten but you never know.

My cat freaks out any time it sees another cat.
