Question

Couple of years ago Palisades releases Year Without a Santa Claus figures exclusive to 1 chain. They sell for $20 a set.
Flash forward a couple of years - Neca decides to rerelease the same figs. Molding and sculpting is already done, and they're not an exclusive this time. So what's the price - $40 a set. So, by having the fixed costs essentially covered, and producing more, the price doubles?

If anyone comes across them for cheaper than this, please let me know.

True story...

A client of mine sells decks, various wood products and furniture. His customers tend to be upscale. He had these rocking chairs that he couldn't sell at $40 a piece. His customers thought that at that price they must be cheap merchandise. He raised the price to $100 and sold them all. Go figure.

No idea if this applies but it's a good story.

I believe the phrase "more money than brains" fits that situation.

It's called "perceived value". It's a real thing. Trust me. I'm in advertising. I know all the cool buzz words.
