Care to explain to me how it works? What do I have to do to play and will i have to go on every day?

You don't have to do it every day, but it is something you want to check on semi-often.
You have to build up men, weapons, armor, spies, TONS of stuff, and you get a certain amount of money every half hour to do it.
You spy on people, and attack them.

The help section explains most everything.
