The sounds of a heavy down pour woke me at 4am this morning. This is not a difficult thing to do since I left the window open to get a nice summer nights breeze and my 1 bdrm apt is half under ground. My first groggy thought was "Damn! Left the car windows open a crack..." Throwing off an explenative or two, I flop back down on the pillow to try and go back to sleep.

Then I notice the direction of the sound. It's not comming from the open window but from the bedroom door... Stepping out of bed to a very wet carpet. Seem as if during my slumber someone relocated Niagra Falls in my entry-way/dining room. Spent the next 20 min calling maintenance to shut off the water, shutting down electronics and considering selling tickets to The Mist Queen rides ...

FFWD to this morning at the Apt Office;

<font color="ltgreen">"We called the main office and they've given us authorization to ask you what you want to do..."</font>

I bite back a comment about Mist Queen tickets and ask what they can do and how long it's going to take.

<font color="ltgreen">"We can dry the carpet with fans, which will take at least 24hrs if we can get the fans. Or we can replace the carpet ....but we need to know what to do with your furnature..."</font>

<font color="red">Me: [disbelief]How about another apartment?...[/disbelief]</font>

<font color="ltgreen">"We don't have any and we're booked until September."</font>

Now why does my gut keep telling me I'm getting shafted here?....

Angry

"We called the main office and they've given us authorization to ask you what you want to do..."
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">If that ain't the most official sounding double speak I've ever heard. Authorized to ask you what you want to do? WTF does that mean?

Can you help me?

We are authorized to ask you if we can help you.

So can you help me or not?

Hey, only we are authorized to ask questions here!
