I'm afraid that Hell has officially frozen over...

I never thought I'd see this day.... and it makes me sad to report it.


Last night I stood in front of the figures sections of Sam Goody and Spencers and was stunned at what I saw.

Neca and Mezco had stuff like Pirates of the Carribean, blood spattered horror figures, Hellboy, Scarface, and a whole row of 18 figures like Freddy Mercury, Darkness, Freddy, and so forth.

McFarlane had the Hanna Barbara stuff, Napolean Dynamite, Simpsons... and even the Spawn stuff was obviously life scans (because of the tubby, non-heroic looking bodies) instead of the great sculpts they have been known for.

Granted, the Neca stuff didn't have quite the same production quality... but sculpt and the detail that we're used to seeing from McFarlane has been squandered on these other licenses, while the rest of the players have caught up.

I'm well aware that this has been well-covered subject over the past few months, but standing before that wall of toys... It really hit home... and it was just sad. I walked away shaking my head in disbelief.

heh, guess i'm not as big a classic McF fan as the rest of ya as i'm far more excited about the new stuff (series 30, HB, Simpsons) then i have ever been about any other line he's had.

Like I've said before, having kids and more expenses has caused me to focus my collecting and McF doesn't cater to me refined hobby.

I'm even at the point where most of the McF stuff I have has gotta go... 80% of it is in storage anyway.

Still waiting on NECA & SOTA to make something I want (I did but the Hellraiser toys from NECA & a Jeepers creeper from SOTA-waiting on Lovecraft).
