I have a brother that is 6 years older then me. Because of him, Steppenwolf is the band I first got turned on to. My parents were not happy to say the least. Still love them to this day. (the band that is)
What was your first BAND?
--------------------------------
I was born in 1975 and started listening to older music (not kid stuff) around 7/8 years old. It was the beginning of the 80's and disco was over. Pop was taking over and videos were starting to be THE promotional device. The band that caught my eyes and my ears first (mostly due to an older sister listening to it) and that I still like to listen was the best mix of Pop, Visual and Video of the 80s. Some of there videos were directed by Russell Mulcahy who went on to direct one of my favourite movie , the first HIGHLANDER. At the time they were called The Fab Five by the Press. Yesterday I had a blast watching them on TV performing at the tail gate party in Houston. This band is Duran Duran.

So what was yours?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">WOW - Me too!! No shitting... My sister is 6 1/2 years older than me too (I was also born in '75), and she was into punk and heavy metal for a phase there... I remember borrowing her records, and Pyromania was one of the first ones I can remember listening too. That, and the Clash, and Stray Cats.Originally posted by -megalithanod:

That was the first non-kids album I owned. Went down hill from there
I no longer dig heavy metal, but it sure set me down a different path!
Jesus, you think I remember? I don't even remember the last CD I bought.
I found my first band when I was nine years old.
Counting Crows.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Same boat here. Steppenwolf, 3 Dog Night, The Who, The Guess Who, Iron Butterfly, Beatles, The Turtles, The Electric Prunes, Jefferson Airplane, etc....My older brother turned me on to everything!Originally posted by aspawnfan:

But the two bands that really made an impact on me were Grand Funk Railroad (from my hometown of course) and Led Zeppelin!
Genesis
The Police
Believe it or not, Metallica.
For my 14th (?) birthday, my friends got me 2 albums...(NOT CD's....fucking albums!)
Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here
Led Zep II
the rest is a foggy history.....
