I have the latest issue of Amazing Figure Modeler too, it rocks! Anyone who's an alien or pred fan should try and track down a copy.

My favorite way of rendering stone is to use chunks of closed cell styrofoam (like the kind televisions etc. come packed in), and then give it a few coats of Woodland Scenics foam putty (thinned with water), and then sand it down to give it a weathered look. I used this technique for the concrete base for my horizon bane kit-

    3393C3A3C79232327Ffp583Dot3E2323B3D3C573D3C593DXROQDF3E232343B4373C357ot1lsi

You can get woodland scenics stuff at most hobby stores that sell model train supplies.

To recreate steps like Steve did with that diorama, you could just glue together a bunch of chunks of foam and cover the whole thing in foam putty. You could even cover the foam with sheets of super sculpey or epoxy clay and then sculpt the stone texture by rolling a ball of tinfoil over the clay.

Oh yeah, as for looking for cheap computer parts, I would check out any auction houses in your area. I work at one and there are always old junky computers coming through that only sell for about ten bucks apiece. Sometimes we even get boxes and boxes of obsolete computer parts from suppliers that can't sell them because they're basically worthless.

I want to give an attempt at making some Alien & Predator dioramas. I just don't want to pay alot for what is essentially junk.

I can't find foam board anywhere. I've looked in Michael's & Jo-Ann Fabrics with no luck. I would like to carve old stone steps and walls for another diorama I have in mind.

EQ, you might want to try some stuff called, I hope I get this right, Celluclay. It's like instant paper mache. You can make really nice looking stone stuff out of it.
