i dont have a wide screen TV, and from what I see above, most of the people in this thread do not. The TV has nothing to do with it. The fact of the matter is that Full Screen cuts off a portion of the picture.
what a bunch of asses. not everyone can afford to go out and switch out their tvs to widescreens. therefore theres a choice.

I am also in the "without a widescreen TV category". Widescreen pisses me off, although it looks beautiful on a widescreen TV.
????
I don't get you two.....
me neither - this has nothing to do with TV sets -- widescreen shows the whole movie, whether it be on a regular tv or a widescreen tv. and fullscreen cuts off the sides, no matter what TV its on...
...because some people just don't care?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">True, but the viewing area is much smaller. Also I have a flat-screen TV, so the picture is not really cut off.Originally posted by UrashimaNick:

Perhaps this will clear some things up.
Widescreen on top, Full Screen on bottom.
For full screen, they cut off the sides and zoom in, hence the term "Pan & Scan".
i get what they are saying - basically, on a small tv, widescreen makes the picture even tinier -- so when they watch starwars, as in the example of above, they woudl rather see Amidala pushing buttons up close, and completely ignore Anakin in the back, and want to see Mace talking to that clone trooper, and miss out on all the stuff happening in the background
a guy i work with is the same way - he actually has a big 50 inch tv -- but he refuses to buy widescreen - says "i paid that much money for a TV, I want the picture to fill the whole screen!" -- i try to tell him all the stuff he's missing, but he doesnt want to hear it
