Only when the Japanese one has the wrong color for the character, I think.

That might well be true.
In either case, I'm always going to go for the ones in the correct color for the character.

The reason for the US verson being blue is, according to Hasbro, is that the yellow plastic they use is too see through for them to use. Translation: The black parts will be seen through the cheap-ass yellow plastic they plain on using. Personally, i think it is because they didn't want collectors to be pissed and went with the G1 color after Takara was stuck using the yellow.
Yeah...sounds like a cover-up.
Why didn't they just say "We wanted Alternator Tracks to match the color of his original G1 toy" or something.
