New board I'm working on. This'll have to do for now.

It wasn't entirely directed at you, Pete, just everybody who's been giving me shit about the new board all day, on here and AIM.

As for WHY I made it, it's quite simple. Here, when I make the decision to ban someone, they can easily get around it by making a simple new username with a different e-mail address. I have to spend hours chasing them around, banning 5-6 different names when I could be doing something else. The new board has an IP ban function which eliminates 99% of problems that arise from banning someone. That's my main reason for wanting to switch. If someone does something bad enough for me to ban them, then I don't want them back on the board at all.

That's a fair enough reason to move.

And I'll probably sign up eventually. I'm just stubborn when it comes to change.

Hell, I still visit the spawn board more often than any others.

Well shatzy, it's not so much HB in general, but some of the things that aren't on the free boards that I really need. Don't get me wrong, I really like the layout and almost everything about it, but I really need a better banning system, as we're dealing with some 30-year-old babies who like do prove their "l33tness" by coming up with new e-mail addresses every day. [img]wink.gif[/img]

If HB had the IP ban function, I'd keep my butt right here.

we do support IP banning but generally frown upon
it because, well naturally, it targets the IP
and in a lot of cases, visitors come around via
search engines and they wouldn't be allowed to post.

however... you do realize that if you have a
problem with a member... you can PM me.

Yeah, I thought about it, but I checked the FAQ and Admin forums for mention of an IP banning option but didn't see anything about it, and I looked in a topic there called "Banned" where you gave all sorts of options, but no IP ban. The problem with this guy is he has 2 or 3 IPs he posts from, and apparently some more out there that he uses. I wouldn't want to keep troubling you guys with new IPs. [img]smile.gif[/img]
